BUSINESS STRUCTURE
PulpWorks has created a corporate structure that will maximize social, environmental and commercial returns.
We have a completely outsourced supply chain comprised of manufacturing, printing, assembly, sales and distribution partners in North America, Europe and Asia. Our supply chain partners are all well-known to us with some relationships dating back several decades.
PulpWorks will generate revenue through the following models, depending upon what works best for its customers:
(1) Complete turnkey outsourcing: In this scenario, the customer provides the saleable article, whereas, PulpWorks provides all other goods and services necessary to create and deliver a finished product to the customer on time and within spec. This includes the design of the package, the paper and pulp components of the PW-Pack itself; the assembly of the retail product; and the delivery of that finished product to the customer’s designated location;
(2) Package-only sales: PulpWorks will ship the empty PW-Pack directly to the customer - or indirectly via their sales & distribution channels - and the customer will provide the final assembly; and
(3) Licensing: PulpWorks will license the PW-Pack technology to selected manufacturers and distributors.
Our co-founders and staff have more than 100 years of combined relevant experience to guide every facet of the operation. We include engineers, architects, graphic and industrial designers. A Board of Advisors has been assembled from industry, law, finance, academia, and the public sector to provide another crucial level of analysis and support.
Further, our approach has been validated by: the prestigious Cleantech Open - the world’s largest green business competition - which named PulpWorks a semi-finalist in its 2011competition; the Keiretsu Forum, which named PulpWorks a Runner-Up in its "Pitch Me Green" Competition of August 2012; and the Silicon Valley Innovation & Entrepreneurship Forum, which also named PulpWorks a Runner-Up in its new venture competition of October 2012. (PulpWorks finished 3rd among 300 entrants in the SVIEF competition, and 1st among all USA companies participating.)
More recently, PulpWorks finished 3rd among 650 ventures from 40 countries in the UC-Berkeley, Haas School of Business, 2013 Global Social Venture Competition. We were also named a Finalist in the 2013 "Think Beyond Plastic" competition sponsored by the international Plastic Pollution Coalition.
